More than 20 years ago, a cancer diagnosis caused me to re-evaluate my entire life giving me a new perspective on life. Transitions are hard for everyone - a move, a divorce, an empty nest, the impact of aging throughout a family, a health scare, even a transition you wanted. If you have ADHD, transitions are often more challenging. The disrupted routines, the executive function demands, the emotional intensity can turn ordinary change into something overwhelming. I'm Jami Shapiro based in San Diego and see clients virtually and in person. My coaching philosophy is built on the belief behind my company's name, Silver Linings Transitions: every transition — expected or unexpected, chosen or not, one you'd call "good" or one you'd call "bad" — carries the potential to become something you grow from, if you have the right lens and the right support.
I specialize in coaching adults with ADHD, particularly women and late-diagnosed adults, through the transitions that define midlife and beyond: downsizing, divorce, aging, empty-nesting, and the transition that started it all for many of my clients — discovering their own ADHD later in life. As founder of Silver Linings Transitions, a Certified Senior Move Manager and Certified Senior Advisor company serving San Diego since 2014, and host of the podcast Grandma Has ADHD, I've spent over a decade helping people find the silver lining on the other side of change.

“You (Jami) has changed my life in so many ways. You have given me the courage and the encouragement to tackle my clutter face on. I now have tools… Now we're going to be able to have Christmas at my house again. And I'm going to be able to have a party for my daughter's wedding at my house. Thank you, Jami". Heidi M.
Late ADHD discovery is its own transition. There's relief in finally having language for a lifetime of feeling different, and there's grief for the years and relationships that might have looked different sooner.
In addition to the emotions, I also work with clients to declutter their homes and their brains and understand the reasons behind accumulation and overspending so that you can replace these thoughts and habits in healthier ways.
I also recognize that for some ADHD has been a gift while others have found it to be an "albatross".
My understanding of ADHD and aging means I recognize the unique challenges that come as we grow older.
As I say on my podcast: it's never too late to make the rest of your life the best of your life.
