My name is Mariella Theuma. I’m a transplant from the Mediterranean, now living in Des Moines, Iowa. I’m a 54-year old woman with ADHD, diagnosed in my late 40s after a lifetime of feeling out of step, different and somehow bewilderingly wrong. I stumbled onto the understanding of how my own brain works after my 2 boys were each diagnosed with ADHD. In one swoop I realized that I was neither stupid nor lazy. I just had a brain difference. And actually knowing that and problem solving around it, gave me the permission to relish that difference. It is what makes me a creative thinker and so much more. I’m starting to really like this newly discovered me.
I’m now a certified ADHD coach. My practice is called Mariella’s Coaching Space. This is a space where other creative women, wrestling with ADHD or who suspect they have it, can bring their true selves.
