I used to think this quote was totally true, but there is one important element that needs to be integrated for it to be true for me.
You only have a choice about your attitude, when you can pause and pay attention to what your current attitude is, and how it is serving you. When you pause, you have the ability to reflect and discern what is happening in the present moment. If your current attitude is not supporting you, you can then choose to change it so that it will. -David Giwerc
