Certified Coach, Alex Hey, AACC, PCAC, founder of Reset ADHD discusses his journey to become an ADHD Coach. You will be awed as you listen to his beautifully-written & emotionally charged poem entitled, "I’m Still Here".

I'm Alex R. Hey, PCAC, and I am the founder of Reset ADHD. I founded Reset following a time where I was trying to get control of my own ADHD. One of the things I did to help myself was to write a book about ADHD, Catholicism and ADHD: Finding Holiness Despite Distractions, which was just released on Amazon. While writing it, I had the opportunity to take a walk with a friend who was being tested for ADHD. These two experiences awoke a passion in me for helping those with ADHD. I then began my training with the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) to help others hit the reset button on their ADHD and start fresh with strengths-based strategies. I like to say I help people work with their brains, not against them.

As a coach, I most enjoy working with people who are figuring out what it means to be an adult and in a way that is authentic to who they are. This means, my ideal clients are older teens and young adults, but I do work with any teen or adult. I hear how the questions I ask my clients resonate with them and lead to amazing realizations about who they are and how they want to operate.

I started writing poetry in a serious way in the summer of 2017, and it quickly became one of my go-to ways to get my swirling thoughts out of my head. I find it better to get the thoughts out of my head than to let them swirl around in my head and attack me. My poem, 'Averagewas written while I was reflecting on my life with ADHD.

I wrote my next poem,  'I'm Still Heretowards the end of a tumultuous year. A lot had happened to me, and it was hard to cope. One night it got so bad that all I could think of was killing myself. I needed to do something. I chose to stay, and I knew I needed to make that choice every day. To help me stay, I wrote a poem promising to stay and listing all of my reasons for staying.

I wrote 'I'm Still Here' because I felt I needed to write it. I also thought that maybe someone else out there needed to hear it.
