It All Begins With a Pause

ADHD Education

Events don't always create the circumstances in your life. It's how you respond to the events which can make or break your ability to grow into a stronger human being. Whenever I feel some gut-wrenching feeling in my stomach, I've learned to pause and distance myself from whatever is happening in the moment. I become my own witness and ask myself: “What is really going on here?"

When you pause to pay attention to the signals in your body and environment, it can become an opportunity for your growth. Whenever you choose to pause and watch what’s going on, without any judgment or attachment to a specific result, you are beginning the process of distancing yourself from the event or  experience. You really do have the opportunity to sit back and say: “How is what I'm paying attention to serving me right now?” You all have that opportunity.

The skill of pausing supports your ability to become your own witness and respond rather than react with patterns that have not served you well. I work on being my own non-judgmental, non-attached, objective witness every day of my life. It has made a huge contribution to improving the quality of my life.
What are you doing to become your own witness?
