Reach Out and Connect with Others, Especially, When You Don’t Feel Like It

ADHD Education

I know I can procrastinate when I don't feel emotionally my best. I look for excuses to call a friend, go workout, do something for someone.

The old story is that if I don't feel good I will bring everyone around me down.

What I have consistently discovered is when I choose to call or spend time with a good friend or cherished family member, the moment I hear their voice, I always feel better.

No matter how bad you feel, pick up the phone and call a friend, take a walk with your spouse or children, visit a friend you haven't seen for awhile, go to your local Starbucks just to be around your fellow human beings, or send a text message to someone you have been thinking about but putting off.

When you reach out to others via the phone or a hug, your voice and touch strengthens your emotional connections with them.

Communicating with others strengthens your brain's Limbic system and ultimately your emotional system. Over time, you become stronger and more resilient. It's a great habit with so many benefits.

So, who are you going to reach out and connect with today? When you do notice how much better you will feel!
